Postcards and Word Wars

Postcards: We need 7 more from Alaska, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Delaware, Connecticut, Mississippi, and New Jersey.  So please bring them.

We are about done with Inkheart 222 more pages.

The reading state assessments start next week.  Also in math the 100% club.  In the 100% club are drum roll please, Cole, Emily, Bethany, Sean, and Tanner.  If as a class we pass all our math facts with a 95% or better we get to go on a picnic.  We can finally wear shorts!

Miss Teen Kansas came today and talked about 4 kinds of bullying, physical, verbal, social, and cyber.

Word War 3!!!  It is two classes at battle for reading.  It will take a month to finish and then we meet back in the classroom to see who wins.  The loser's class has to make a snack for the other class, and may the best class win!

So let's learn a lot and have a battle of the Word War 3, well actually I was going to say have a lot of fun!  See you next time!

Happy March!

We have had a fun week, but had lots going on. Our postcards are doing good, but we still need more. Just this week we got one from Maryland, one from Maine, and one from Washington D.C.  The person who sent us the Washington D.C. one also gave us a book.  We still do need more postcards, so keep sending them!

In math we are doing problem solving and have a party coming up!  We got the party for getting a class average of 95% or better on addition, subtraction, and multiplication on our timed tests.  On division we have an 81.7%and are getting close to passing, but with a little hard work we think we can do it before the end of the year.  Please help us by making us practice.

We are doing electricity in science are just starting a electricity lab.  We just did a Gizmo on electricity.  We had to make closed circuits, open circuits, and figure out how many double A batteries it took to make a 9 volt battery.  It wasn't very easy, but we did it.

It's Dr. Seuss's birthday and we've had fun whether it's wearing PJ's or wearing a hat!  We are now working on fact and opinion.  We made fact and opinion sheets for the "booket" list.  If you've heard of a bucket list you might have a little idea of what we're talking about.  The "Booket" list is a list of books that we made as if the world was about to end.  We can probably show it to you when we're done .

That's all we have to talk about. But remember keep sending postcards!

*A note from Ms. J:  Watch for more news on our "Booket" List; the kids have been hard at work identifying the books they think every fourth grader should read.  As one student put it, "these aren't just any old books; these are the books that you would take with you if the world were about to end and you could only save a few!"
